The Herbst Foundation Honors ICA Cristo Rey Teacher with $5,000 Gift / May 23, 2012

On Wednesday, May 23, 2012, The Herbst Foundation presented an Award for Teaching Excellence to a teacher who truly deserves recognition. Gigi Torres, math teacher at Immaculate Conception Academy, has been teaching for 21 years, 12 of which have been spent at ICA.  She has been ICA’s Math Department Chair for the past six years.

ICA High School Girls Win Big in Engineering Competition / May 02, 2012

April 28, 2012 was a big day for fifteen of Immaculate Conception Academy’s students. The students took first and second place in two contest scenarios, along with winning Best Overall, at the Engineers Alliance for the Arts bridge-building competition. The first place winners landed a spot for their bridge in a display at the 75th Anniversary of the Golden Gate Bridge at the De Young Museum.

Two students from Immaculate Conception Academy participated in a Community Conversation with Isabel Wilkerson on Wednesday, December 7, 2011. Wilkerson, a Pulitzer Prize winner, is the author of The Warmth of Other Sons. The gathering took place at the World Affairs Council in San Francisco. Kabria Pitts ‘12 and Aleyda DeGracia ‘13 had the chance to go on stage and ask Wilkerson questions about her book, which tells the story of Africa-Americans who migrated from the South to the North-East and West of the United States from 1915-1970 in order to find a better life.

Immaculate Conception Academy Now the Most Affordable College Preparatory High School in the Bay Area / November 28, 2011

Immaculate Conception Academy, an all-girls, Catholic, college preparatory, school in San Francisco, has lowered annual tuition to $2,900. At the Board of Directors’ meeting on November 17, they determined to make this change, decreasing tuition by $1,100. This change has made Immaculate Conception Academy the most affordable college preparatory high school in the Bay Area.
