The tasks student workers perform includes reception, data entry, document scanning and filing, records management, office correspondence, marketing and mail room support.
Work days are Monday through Friday. Work hours are approximately from 8:30am – 4:30pm with exact begin and end times determined by transportation logistics. The program runs concurrent with the school year, late August through early June. The work program also observes Christmas break, Spring break, and certain other holidays.
ICA’s corporate work study program engages with sponsors throughout the Bay Area (northern-Peninsula, San Francisco, and BART accessible East Bay). For a list of current corporate sponsors click Current Sponsors.
Sponsors can range in size from small offices to large multi-national corporations. The important sponsor characteristic is that the office has a need for help with entry-level, clerical work.
Annual sponsor fee is $29,000 for a team of 4 students which constitutes one full-time position. The sponsor is not responsible for any additional expenses (payroll taxes, benefits, etc).
If a sponsor does not have appropriate entry-level clerical work there are opportunities for individuals or corporations to sponsor students at local non-profit organizations.
A team of four ICA students shares one full-time job. Students rotate their schedules, each working five full days every four weeks. Academic schedules are structured so that students never miss class.
