Spring has sprung and freshmen enrollment has just begun!

The month of March usually marks the beginning of a very special time in the Admissions Office. Earlier this month, our admissions team mailed an exceptional number of acceptance offers to our top applicants. We are particularly excited to welcome this new wave of future Spartans, representing over 50 different Catholic, public and private middle schools. This applicant pool is special, not only for its size, but for its strength! Strong test scores, outstanding school performance and great attitudes are all indicators that talent is headed our way!

ICA's 4th year as Technovation Participant

"Founded in 2006 by the Aerospace Engineer Tara Chklovski, Iridescent has grown from an informal science education program offered in one school classroom to a global organization that has provided over 80,000 hours of cutting-edge STEM instruction to 22,000 children and parents.

Technovation is a technology entrepreneurship program and competition for young women. Through an intensive 3-month, 50-hour curriculum, teams of young women work together to imagine, design, and develop mobile apps, then pitch their “startup” businesses to investors.

1,374 young women from 19 countries have completed Technovation’s curriculum already, thanks to dedicated local volunteers on the ground worldwide. In 2014, the program will award $20k in funding to winning teams for further app development."

Beautification Day at ICA Thank you Kelly- Moore Paints!

On Saturday, March 15, nearly 70 ICA parents and students arrived bright and early to give the school a spring cleaning. While some dusted computers, others swept under lockers, and still others pitched in to garden. To prepare for a new Student Park mural, parents applied an undercoat of paint to cover an older mural. All are excited to see new art go up in that spot! When the work was done, everyone gathered in Student Park to celebrate Kelly-Moore's generous contribution of paint and labor to redo the outdoor tables and benches. Gary Fazzio and Patrick Byrne from Kelly-Moore Paints are pictured here (center) speaking with Amanda Lesky from the Food Education Project. Amanda's team had connected ICA and Kelly-Moore last summer. The Food Education project team provided delicious fresh lemonade and other treats. ICA is so grateful to Kelly-Moore for the beautiful "new" Student Park furniture and to the Food Education Project for the lovely plants that make this space so inviting. Thanks too to the SF DPW for including ICA in their Giant Sweep initiative and supplying brooms and gardening tools for the day! These partnerships are vital to our efforts!
