Campus Ministry - Service

As Women of Faith, ICA students are expected to grow in their understanding of the dignity of all creation as well as understanding their responsibility to act for social justice and global awareness.

St. Martin’s
ICA students, under the supervision of Mrs. O’Kane or Ms. Schulte, may participate in our monthly service at the St. Martin de Porres house of hospitality. In the tradition of the Dominican St. Martin de Porres, this center serves meals “in the spirit of compassion, understanding and love.”

Volunteers for America
Volunteers for America
Last year two ICA students became members of Volunteers for America’s Action Team. Volunteers for America has partnered with major league baseball players to make service a focus. The ICA students who participated in this organization had the opportunity to mix and mingle with members of the SF Giants as well as become leaders in service at ICA. Though we have taken a break from our cooperation with Volunteers for America during this time of transition, we hope to restart our connection in the future.

Christian Service
All students are required to complete 100 Christian Service Hours over their four years at ICA (or 25 hours per year for transfer students). These hours are intended to immerse students into the needs of their local community. They should be done at not-for profit organizations, with no more than 10 hours of “office work.”
