CAMPUS MINISTRY
The Heart of ICA

Our school philosophy at ICA is that “we encourage a desire to grow in faith and in a personal relationship with Christ”. Faculty, staff, students and parents are all challenged to model Christian living, which is essential to the kind of community that ICA seeks to form. The Student Campus Ministry eam has been referred to as the Heart of ICA for its emphasis on the care of the whole person and spirituality of the student body in its ministry.

Students have the two special forms of leadership in nurturing the faith life of the school

  • L.I.F.E.RS
The Living in Faith Experience program trains students to be faith leaders in the school community. Their training, at the MSJ LIFE Retreat held each summer with the other MSJ Dominican High Schools in California, focuses particularly on the kinds of activities students will experience in retreat and liturgical ministry.
  • PREACHERS
Preachers are students who have attended the Annual Dominican High Schools Preaching Conference held each summer at Sienna Heights University in Adrian, Michigan with other Dominican high school students from around the country. Their training is particularly reflective, with an emphasis on sharing their spiritual journey with others.

It is the student campus ministers’ training that makes them a LIFEr or a Preacher, but both groups of students work together to meet the spiritual needs of the ICA community in retreats, liturgies, prayer services, service days and special events.

CHRISTIAN SERVICE
The goals of Immaculate Conception Academy include developing educated young women whose lives are witness to the message of Christ. To that end the school has established a program as part of its graduation requirements to help students experience and learn through service.
